Listed Building Enforcement Advice & Appeals

Listed building enforcement can be complex for both property owners and the local planning authority. There are many grounds on which an appeal against such a notice can be made and more than half of appeals are successful or partially successful. However, the time-frame for making an appeal is normally very limited, so if you receive a listed building enforcement notice you must act quickly.

If you have not received a formal enforcement notice but have received a letter regarding alleged breaches of listed building control, negotiations may be able to find a quicker and more economical solution. Whenever possible such an approach is strongly preferable - do not wait until you receive a listed building enforcement notice before contacting HPD!
